final sealing with sealing urushi/ Isehaya Urushi
The final sealing coat is important to prolong the life of silver and gold finishes for everyday use and also can give a darkening antique effect on a brass repair.
Dilute Isehaya with same amount of turpentine. Mix well.
Brush Isehaya on Kintsugi metal softly.
Blot up Isehaya with a tissue immediately after you brush it. Longer you keep Isehaya, sealing better, but get darker. Do not rub, just press tissue strongly on Kintsugi.
Leave the plate in a humid box for a couple of days.
You might find brown stain on glaze, that is excess Isehaya run onto the plate. Remove with Isopropanol or magic sponge.
Keep in a box a week. Now Ready to use.
You can polish silver and gold finish once sealing set.
